「業界を牽引する舞踊団」と称されるザ・ヒューマン・エクスプレッション・ダンスカンパニー(T.H.E)とそのセミプロ舞踊団T.H.Eセカンドカンパニーは、卓越した芸術性と技術を誇る革新的な現代舞踊の代名詞とも言える。T.H.Eは、アヴィニョン冬季フェスティバル(2012年)、ソウル国際ダンスフェスティバル(2013)、オークランド・アーツ・フェスティバル(2016)、TPAM2016「横浜ダンスコレクション」など、主要な地域主催の芸術祭や著名な国際芸術祭で公演を行ってきた。2010年には地域のダンサーを育てるプラットフォームとして、シンガポール初の試みとなる毎年開催予定のコンテポラリーダンスフェスティバル「CONTACT」を立ち上げる。身体の動きを前面に押し出すことを特徴とするT.H.Eは人間の普遍的体験の深部まで切り込んでいく。 Described as a dance company “at the top of its game”, The Human Expression Dance Company (T.H.E) and its semi-professional wing, T.H.E Second Company, are names synonymous with ground breaking contemporary dance of the highest quality and artistry. T.H.E has performed at all major local arts festivals and prestigious international festivals such as Les Hivernales (2012), SIDance Festival (2013); Auckland Arts Festival (2016); Yokohama Dance Collection at TPAM 2016, among others. In 2010, T.H.E initiated the first annual Singapore contemporary dance festival CONTACT to create a nurturing platform for local and regional dance artists. With its unique brand of highly physical and kinetic works, T.H.E digs deep into the universal human experience.

T.H.Eダンスカンパニー、CONTACTコンテポラリーダンス・フェスティバルの創設者、芸術監督。2013年〜2015年のd'MOTION国際ダンスフェスティバルの共同芸術監督を務める。2002年から2007年にかけてスペイン国立ダンスカンパニーでアジア人初となるプリンシパルダンサーを務め、ナチョ・ドゥアト、イジー・キリアン、マッツ・エック、オハッド・ナハリン、ヴィム・ヴァンデケイビュスなどの振付家と作品づくりに取り組む。1990年にシンガポール人民ダンス連盟(Singapore People’s Association Dance Company)、シンガポール・ダンスシアターでダンサーとしてのキャリアをスタートさせ、国立ダンスカンパニー所属に至る。2003年にはバレエのブノワ賞にノミネートされ、2007年にはシンガポールのナショナル・アーツカウンシルからヤング・アーティスト賞を受賞。『Silence』(2007年)、『As It Fades』(2011年)は高い評価を受け、共同制作の『RE:OK...BUT!』(2011年)、『Above 40』(2015年)はその年の最も優れた作品の一つに選ばれている。アヴィニョン冬季フェスティバルのクロージング作品に選ばれるなど、著名な国際フェスティバルにも参加。2016年にはオークランド・アーツ・フェスティバルからの委託でニュージーランドの舞踊団ブラック・グレイスと新作の共同制作を行う。

Founder and Artistic Director of T.H.E Dance Company and the CONTACT Contemporary Dance Festival; Co-Artistic Director of d'MOTION International Dance Festival 2013 – 2015. Kuik was the first Asian principal male dancer with Spain’s Compañia Nacional de Danza (CND) from 2002 – 2007, working primarily with Nacho Duato as well as Jiri Kylian, Mats Ek, Ohad Naharin and Wim Vandekeybus. Prior to CND, he began his dance career in 1990 with the Singapore People’s Association Dance Company and Singapore Dance Theatre. In 2003 Kuik was nominated for the Benois De La Danse Award. In 2007, he received the Young Artist Award from the National Arts Council, Singapore. Critically acclaimed works include Silence (2007) and As It Fades (2011); collaboration works RE:OK...BUT! (2011), and Above 40 (2015) were recognized as among the best of shows in their respective years. His works have toured to prestigious international festivals, including the festival-closing performance at Les Hivernales festival in Avignon, France. In 2016, the Auckland Arts Festival commissioned Kuik to create a new work in collaboration with New Zealand’s Black Grace.
